Ford Sierra '83 Berlin Ghia versions

The Ford Sierra cars were manufactured from June, 1982 to February, 1993 and had two modifications. The Ford Sierra cars of the first generation (designated by Sierra '83) were manufactured till December, 1986, and the Ford Sierra cars of the second generation (Sierra '87) – since January, 1987.

The Ford Sierra cars '83 which replaced Taunus had the modern bodies with very good aerodynamic parameters (coefficient of aerodynamic resistance ρυ = 0,34) which are highly appreciated by users both versions a limousine, and Kombi. In the Sierra cars '83 the possibility of use of several different petrol engines as made earlier, however modernized and specially adapted for the new car, and absolutely new design is provided. Petrol 4th cylinder engines of the Sierra cars '83 (ONS engines) had a cam-shaft in a head of the block of cylinders and were delivered in the following versions: 1,3 dm3 (1,3 44 kW NANOSECONDS), 1,6 dm3 (1,6 55 kW NANOSECONDS) – in two versions (economic with the electronic built-in system of ignition and normal), and also 2,0 dm3 (2,0 77 kW NANOSECONDS). Besides, in petrol models V-shaped six-cylinder engines were alternatively offered:
2,0 66 kW dm3 (by special orders), 2,3 66 kW dm3, and also 2,8 84 kW dm3 (intended only for the XR4 model).

The Ford Sierra cars '83 Diesel were equipped with the diesel engine of Peugeot which is specially adapted for the Ford Sierra car (YTT type). This engine with a working volume of 2304 cm3 develops the power of 49 kW (67 h.p.) at 4200 rpm.

Since February, 1985 in bodies of all diesel versions the Ghia version air inlet is established.

In January, 1987 the release of the second generation of the Sierra cars '87 in which body the set of the changes directed to appearance improvement is entered is begun, and also there was a new version of a body – the three-volume four-door Sedan which supplements the former offer of diesel versions covering five-door Berlin and Kombi. The Ford Sierra cars '87 still (till September, 1989) were equipped with the engine 2,3 Diesel (YTR type). Only since August, 1988 in some countries began to offer, at first it is alternative, the engine 1,8 Turbo Diesel (RFA or RFB type) which since October, 1989 remained the only thing for all diesel versions of the Ford Sierra cars until the end of their release.

In the Ford Sierra cars '83 various transmissions (mechanical four - and five-step or automatic Fords-Bordeaux), the drive on back wheels, an independent forward suspension bracket and back semi-independent, and also the back bridge, with the main transfer together with differential were installed.

Three versions of finishing and equipment of the car were originally offered (L, GL, and also Ghia). The Ghia version had the best equipment, differed also in an exterior (lack of the cross sheets complicating air supply in a motor compartment and also double forward headlights).
